The causes are very diverse, but one thing is clear: private jet flights are only increasing.

Most of us mortals have never flown in a private jet, nor do we have the possibility of doing so, as their prices are very high. A flight from Mallorca to Paris or London (round trip) can cost around $30,000, and between 4 and 6 people travel on the plane.

I believe that the fundamental reason for using this type of flight is the ego of the people, and we all have our own ego. Then, depending on the possibilities of each one, they use the "explanation" that best suits them to justify the fact.

I understand that their biggest advantage is the comfort and flexibility they offer. A person who has a lot of money, with a private flight, travels very comfortably, without any loss of time, and today private jets can cross the Atlantic with total comfort.

The Covid-19 has also been a very good excuse, because with private flights the concentration with other people is eliminated and those who use them can say that these flights are safer.

The increase in demand for these flights has been more than 20%, and it seems that it will continue in the coming years. Today the companies that offer these planes have "problems" to get new planes and be able to meet the demand for flights. A great problem.

I have certain very clear ideas about its pernicious environmental effect. If flying pollutes today, the fact that few people fly pollutes more. And if flights are not essential, we should try to avoid them.

Just for your information, according to the experts at Transport & Environment. private planes pollute 14 times more per passenger than normal commercial planes.

Today there is the technical possibility of flying with ecological fuels, but they are 5 times more expensive, and the wealthiest are the ones who could best afford their cost. But they will not do it if there is no certain pressure from the authorities.

And it does not seem that this is going to happen, because our politicians and leaders are more interested in promoting the economy, than in foreseeing the ecological disaster towards which we are heading. A shame.

We will all pay for it.
