There are many companies (some new and others not so much) that have the objective of producing "meat" from vegetable products. And many food chains already offer plant-based burgers.

But what many still don't offer is a piece of meat that looks like meat, and tastes and smells like meat. And that is what the Israeli Company Redefine Meat   www.redefinemeat.com   claims to offer and I think its website is worth a look.

You can see on their website that they offer pieces of meat made with a 3D printer, and the meat can be of various types: tenderloin, striploin, fillet beaf, etc…. and they do this with a 3D printer starting from vegetable products.

The company starts from plant products and generates proteins, fats, blood-like cells, etc… and puts all of this into a large 3D printer.

By means of software, the type of meat is programmed to be printed, and the printer joins the parts that make up the programmed type of meat, and after a series of “passes” of the printer heads, the piece of desired meat is printed.

Then all that remains is to cut it and proceed to cook it as if it were “normal” meat. In the following photos you can see the impression of the machine and the result of how the piece of meat is finally

The company makes its products from soybeans, peas, chickpeas, coconut, etc…, and has the strategy of selling its “meats” as a high quality product at a price of 40 dollars/kg, which seems to me to be expensive compared to the current market for beef.

It seems like a good alternative to meat, but to gain a significant market share I think it should adjust its prices when it improves its production processes and increases the production rate.

This is a new possibility that is about to hit the market, and it is something different from most and it remains to be seen how successful it will be. I wish them the best.
