We continually hear about the autonomous vehicle, especially for cities, and they are always “normal” vehicles (like today's cars) and with autonomous capabilities.
But today I am going to comment on an idea that I have seen on the Internet and that proposes something different and attractive, a new type of autonomous mobility. It is called Next Future Transport and it is presented by a new company that offers its idea to investors who wish to bet on the future of transport in cities.
I really like the idea and it is certainly different, and I think it has the disadvantage that it is so new that it is not easy for them to get enough money to put it into practice. Hopefully they get it !!
These are "autonomous pods" that are cubicles where people travel, and that can be coupled together to form a vehicle similar in length to a bus.

People could request their ride through an APP and wait for the vehicle to pick them up. Depending on the destinations of the people, the vehicles could be grouped together to take advantage of the trips, and then separated according to the needs of those destinations.
The idea sounds good, but it is very advanced and requires a lot of investment to implement it. It seems sensible to start an implementation in a limited space (a fairground or something similar), and then expand the area to be covered over time.

Very novel ideas, like this one, sometimes have trouble materializing, but they are still good ideas.
