Not long ago the news appeared that the US had reached one million deaths from Covid-19, and throughout the world this disease continues to cause problems despite the fact that it is relatively controlled thanks to vaccines.

In Asia there are still some important outbreaks, and in Europe deaths have decreased because the majority of the population have 3 vaccines in our body. But despite this, there are quite a few people who get sick, although fortunately the vaccines make the discomfort more or less mild and hospitalization is not necessary.

It is a disease that today can be said to be "controlled", but that is not why it can be underestimated and we must put aside some minimum precautions so as not to be infected again.

And the announcement of the deaths in the USA leads me to make this reflection. Since also in Spain many people want to "forget" what we have been through and go back to "before", without being aware that the situation has changed from “before”. Whether we like it or not, the situation has changed and it is more than possible that the "new situation" will last for quite some time.

And in this new situation, it will be necessary to be prudent and possibly wear masks in the presence of many other people, so as not to collaborate in the transmission of possible infections.

People, and especially politicians, want to convey the message that we are as before the pandemic, but I think that is not the case. It is not about being pessimistic but about seeing what is happening around us.

There are people who continue to get sick with Covid-19, and although they do not need to go to the hospital because they are vaccinated, if the appropriate protection measures are not taken, they infect other people. And so on.

Nobody knows how long this situation will last, but I think we have the use of masks for a while. And it's nothing especially serious neither, it’s just about taking a few simple precautionary measures.

But to say that everything is over is a mistake, a serious mistake. And the US death numbers should remind us of that.
