Solar panels interspersed with agriculture favor climate change, and that is something we hardly see in our fields.

When we see a field of solar panels to generate electrical energy we can see that there is nothing below them; and when we see an agricultural field we can see that there are no solar panels there.

And someone has come up with the great idea of mixing the two activities and generating electricity while growing agricultural products. A simple idea, easy to implement and that can be profitable.

So that the solar panels do not interfere with agricultural work, they must be placed at a certain height from the ground, and in this way the products can be grown under them.

If the two activities can be combined two types of business are generated: the sale of clean electricity and the sale of the agricultural products that are planted.

The solar panels placed on the plants also exert a beneficial action, since by generating shade over the plants they reduce the consumption of water for the crops by a high percentage.

In tests carried out in the state of Arizona (USA) they have achieved water savings of 50%, and that is a lot of water savings. And if we take into account that in the immediate future water is going to be a scarce and expensive good, this characteristic is very important for agriculture.

It is more than likely that within a short time, some farsighted farmers will improve their profits by also selling electricity, and it remains to be seen which of their business lines (Agriculture vs. Energy) is more beneficial to them.

The important thing is to anticipate the future and be open to trying new things to improve current businesses, and agriculture can clearly be improved.

Technologies offer us new possibilities that we must not miss out on.
