On many occasions I have thought about the real urgency of the things we buy online, because if we look around us a little we can see the enormous number of "offers" that they make us so that we receive the products with the utmost urgency. In less than 24 hours.

This "custom" was started by Amazon and everyone else has followed the fashion so as not to lose customers. And the worst thing is that over time, we customers have become accustomed to it, and we have turned it into a necessity.

Logistics systems have been highly developed and automated to make them more efficient and faster, and therefore response times have been shortened. Which is very good, but what I think is not so good is the anxiety that has been created in us users to have everything we order online “at the moment”, since most of the things we buy are not urgent at all.

And making non-urgent things become urgent means stressing the entire supply chain without a real need.

When people work under pressure the results are worse and more accidents are generated. Not to mention the cases of Amazon drivers in the USA who had to urinate in a bottle so as not to waste time getting out of their truck.

When packages are delivered urgently, there is no time to group them by shipping zones, and therefore transport is more inefficient. Speed is gained by losing efficiency, not to mention the unnecessary pollution we generate.

With emergencies we are unhappier, especially those who are more subjected to the pressure of it.

And the worst of all is that in a large number of cases (in the majority) it is an urgency that we self-impose. A fictitious need that we have created.

Dear friends, if we want to have a more sustainable life, with a better quality of life, and without unnecessary pressure for the people who work making deliveries, we should think a little before requesting something with a delivery in the next 24 hours.
