Personal transportation is an essential part of our daily lives. It allows us to move from one place to another, to go to work, to school, to run errands or simply to enjoy free time.
In recent years, the electric car has become an increasingly popular option for personal transportation. Electric cars are a sustainable alternative to gasoline or diesel cars, since they do not produce polluting gas emissions.
But today we have various options to diversify our personal transportation and make it more sustainable, and not everything involves the electric car, as there are other personal and economic options such as electric bikes, electric scooters, etc...
The main problem is that we have become very comfortable and very dependent on the car. And when we think about sustainable alternatives to get around, we hardly see anything other than the electric car. But there are others that are more practical and much cheaper.
In general, we use the car most of the time for short trips. In the USA, 60% of trips are for less than 10 km, and in Europe happens something similar.
And for short trips, apart from public transport, an electric bike or an electric scooter are more practical and much more economical than a car; with the particularity that they do not contaminate the environment. We think about the car out of habit, and not because we don't have other better alternatives, which in fact we do.

For those who don't know, there are already almost 300 million electric micro-mobility devices (bikes, scooters, and electric motorcycles) circulating around the world, and according to Bloomberg that means almost 1 million barrels of oil less per day, which represents 1% of current consumption. This trend will continue to grow in the future, and it is the best way to move while consuming less fossil fuels and avoiding polluting our environment.
I already know a couple of people who use these means of transportation in the city, and they are delighted. They find it very practical and economical.
I do not understand why Administrations and Governments do not promote more these types of transport. With more micro-mobility lanes in cities, many more people would be encouraged to practice it, and we would all benefit.
I hope we see it as soon as possible.
