Some years ago, Google offered smart glasses to the market (Google Lens) that were not successful with the public, and since then they have dedicated themselves to very specific tasks and in professional environments.

Nowadays things have changed and in addition to the "metaverse" there are many people (Apple, Facebook, Microsoft, etc...) working on the development of glasses to offer Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality. And it seems that Google did not throw in the towel in this field.

A little over a year ago, Google bought a company (North) that developed smart glasses like the one you can see in the photo below. The design is very stylized and control is easily done with a ring placed on one finger.

You can see a very clarifying video at: https://youtu.be/8FlvL2yLmWg

And during the last year it seems that Google has put a strong team of technicians to work with the people of North to bring to market a new model of smart glasses.

It will be one more among the many that are on the market, and what does seem very clear is that this market is going to be very, very large. That's why the big brands want to be in it.

From what is read in specialized magazines, between 2023 and 2024 will be when most of these new smart glasses appear, and it remains to be seen who wins the day when it comes to leading sales.

What is not very clear is that glasses will be the device that replaces the mobile in our day to day, because every year mobiles are more powerful and more versatile.

Those who announced that they would be replaced by smartwatches were completely wrong, since the latter have a very small screen. And now smart glasses appear that have a very large screen, but their handling and control is less intuitive than that of a mobile

There is no doubt that there are going to be smart glasses, but that they are capable of displacing the ubiquitous mobile phones in our day-to-day life is already more difficult, and even more so now that we will have folding mobile phones with sizes that adapt even better to our needs.

Time will tell.
