I have seen with surprise and pleasure the idea of the  Squad  solar car that a Dutch company intends to put up for sale next year for just over 7,500 euros including VAT. It is an electric car that also has a roof with solar panels that help extend its autonomy.

The autonomy of its batteries is 100 km, and the sunroof can add an extra autonomy of 20 km per day, which is not much but it helps a small car that seeks to cover the niche of a car to circulate around the city, and due to its small size you can park in a small space.

The two-seater car looks like a golf cart, and has a small space to carry some luggage. Actually, more than a car, it is a quadricycle, and it can be driven by a person from the age of 15 and without the need for a driving license, only a moped license.

It reaches a maximum speed of 45 km/h, so it can be seen that its orientation is for use in the city, and it can be parked in front like a motorcycle.

Other small electric cars for the city have appeared, such as the Citroen Ami, and I suppose more will appear, since their low cost makes them ideal to be a second family car and used on very short journeys.

Another thing is that the company Squad Mobility is successful with its product, because it has to sell many to stay in the market, and that niche is very small.

There are other small cars like the Smart that also has its electric version for a price of 11,000 euros.

The competition is tough, but users are offered different interesting possibilities of having a small electric car for short trips.
