Just as we are seeing meats made from plants and other laboratory-generated meats in the markets, soon we will also have the possibility of buying artificial milk that does not come from a cow, but from a laboratory.

In the world there are about 1,500 million cows, some to produce milk and others to produce meat, and according to technicians, each cow generates 300 liters of methane gas per day due to its digestive system, and this gas is more than 20 times more polluting than the CO2 we emit into the atmosphere.

And also according to the technicians in the field, these innocent animals generate around 20% of the greenhouse gases that we suffer from. And since we need to eliminate these effects, several paths are being followed, one is to provide cattle with feed that reduces their methane emissions, and another is to artificially generate milk, so as not to depend on the cows to obtain that product.

Hay varias empresas que están trabajando en este campo de la obtención de leches artificiales.  La empresa norteamericana  PerfectDay  manufactures synthetic milk using the cow's milk gene that multiplies by means of a fungus. And it is already used to make ice cream and other products.

The Climate Emergency situation that we have with us will encourage many people to try these new products that are offered as more sustainable with our environment. And there are several companies around the world working to obtain milk artificially.

I do not know the prices of obtaining these synthetic milks, but I am very clear that as the processes are developed, new ones are invented, and there are more companies in the market, the prices of a liter of synthetic milk will go down over time. And quite possibly not taking long.

And as the qualities of these synthetic milks improve and their prices drop, they will put current farmers in greater difficulties, who will surely find their subsistence even more difficult.

Today, dairy farming is a very tight-priced business, and farmers periodically complain about how little they are paid, but what many may not know is that in the future it does not seem that they will have it anymore easy.

Dear friends, Technology changes faster every day, and in all fields of activity. Everyone in their area must be aware of future technological developments to adapt to them as soon as possible.

In evolution, those who are first able to adapt to changes are those who have the best chance of surviving. And the slow ones have very little future.

It's hard, but that's how it is.
