Every day appears news about robots, and I really liked the news about a robot with two wheels that is able to maintain balance and can roll on a surface and also climb stairs.

These characteristics give it great versatility when it comes to finding applications, based on the sensors that are placed on it. It can be used to transport things, to monitor or inspect facilities, etc ...

The robot has been presented by the Swiss company Ascento Robotics, and the current model is an evolution of a first model presented in 2020. Now it is faster as it reaches 12 km / h. and has an autonomy of between 5 and 8 hours depending on the mission to be carried out.

By the means it uses to move (they are two wheels) it consumes little energy and that increases its possible applications; And it has the added benefit that the battery is rechargeable and can be removed in seconds, maximizing its operating time.

The transport of small weights (up to a few kilos) has a great future ahead of it and there are many companies testing different options.

These robots can deliver orders, distribute materials in large areas, take samples or food from one place to another, etc….

If these robots are fitted with sensors with cameras, they can perform surveillance, inspection, etc… functions and with an extendable manipulator they could even operate switches or whatever was necessary.

Like almost any robot, they have the additional advantage of being able to be controlled remotely by an operator and perform other more complex functions controlled from distances of many kilometers.

Although the business prospects for robots are very good for years to come, there is a great struggle in this field to position itself in the leading places.

No business is easy, and neither is that of robots, even if they have two wheels.
