As I like to follow technological topics, I also tend to follow the events where they are promoted, and one of the most important is the CES that is held in Las Vegas at the beginning of each year.

And after the AI earthquake of the last year, it was more than logical that all kinds of products including AI “aids” would be presented. Products such as pillows, toothbrushes, various appliances (vacuum cleaner, washing machine,...), etc….

And that happens because AI, in addition to being a great technology, is also a fashion. And fashions help sell, although products with AI are not at all necessary. And with very honorable exceptions this is what happened this year at CES.

For a vacuum cleaner to detect the surfaces it passes over and adapt the suction, that is, the speed of the motor, is something that can be done with a simple potentiometer or similar, and this can be done by a person at no cost and without complicating the device.

Something similar can be said about the toothbrush, and other products that we use in our daily lives, and that do not need to be “complicated” by adding AI. That's what humans and our common sense are for.

I am sure that the reality of the market will put things in their place, and let us never forget the expression  KISS: Keep It Simple Stupid

On the other hand, what I found very interesting was the  Rabbit R1 device, since it is something totally different and can change the use that we give to mobile phones today and how we manage APPs.

It will compete directly with the  AI pin  , but it has the enormous advantage of its low price, having a small screen, and not requiring any type of monthly subscription.

The first impression is more than positive, and we need to know better how it works and what it is capable of before thinking about putting the mobile phone aside. We will have to wait a few months.
