Indeed, most automotive manufacturers show good profits, but they do so by selling cars with internal combustion engines and not with their electric car models, of which they sell very few and generate losses.

I recently saw Ford's announcement of its good results for the last quarter, in which they also indicate that they continue to lose with their electric cars. In the second quarter of this year they almost tripled the results of the second quarter of the previous year.

But instead, the losses from the sales of their electric cars increased by 50%. Supposedly those are the cars that they will make in the future, and perhaps that is why they sent the message that they hope to generate profits with electric cars from the year 2026.

It is true that almost all car manufacturers today still make few electric cars, and that with the increase in manufacturing, processes are improved and costs are reduced. But manufacturing electric cars is easier and new brands have appeared, especially Chinese, with good cars and good prices.

And since the most expensive thing in an electric car is the battery, and China dominates the world market for car battery manufacturing, Chinese electric car manufacturers are very well placed to offer good prices in the future.

In Spain and Europe, more and more Chinese electric cars (MG and others) are seen on the roads every day, and as their quality has improved and the issue of price is very important, this is a trend that can go further.

I think that the change to the electric car has caught the large motoring groups still drowsy from the great benefits of the past, and they still haven't just woken up.

And it is more than possible that by the time they fully wake up, they will find that there are others who have occupied a very important part of that market. And then they will dedicate themselves to lamenting and asking their governments for "help" so that they make it difficult to sell the "foreign" cars of the competition.
