As I have said on occasions, aerial drones have become the air force of the poor because everyone can buy them, and also buy many of them. But rich countries also use them for various missions, both surveillance and attack.

For all armed forces, defending against drones is a top priority, and the solutions are very varied. But the fundamental problem is when they suffer an attack of a cloud of drones, because it is not easy to shoot them all down.

I have seen a product that the North American army has presented that is based on emitting a very powerful microwave signal, which is capable of "burning" the electronic circuits of drones in flight, and in this way they stop controlling the device and fall to land.

The system is a Fire Direction System that instead of firing ammunition, fires high power microwave beams. At first they called it THOR and it has been tested in some African country.

The entire system is installed in a container and can be easily moved (by land, sea or air) to where it is needed.

And you can see a video at:   https://youtu.be/QjHGxKb6W1c

But as always happens in defense matters, the information that is known in the media is heavily manipulated, and we only know what they want to tell us.

Drones have the particularity that they are very small and therefore difficult to detect, especially if they fly very low. Those that offer the systems, like good commercials, only show the advantages, but things are not usually that easy.

Currently, drones are capable of attacking in "flocks" and sharing the "work" with the help of Artificial Intelligence. But it is natural that armies try to equip themselves with the means to defend themselves against them. They all do it with greater or lesser success.
