I am reading more and more articles on Artificial Intelligence (AI) topics because it is a topic that interests me. When people talk about AI, they are considering robotics as well, and while some predict bad times in the not-too-distant future, others rave about how happy we are going to be with AI.

In general, those who write books on the subject tend to be reasonably optimistic, because they want to sell their books, and few people buy a book to make their lives miserable. But I am not so clear.

What everyone agrees on is the enormous influence that AI is going to have on our lives, interfering with the way jobs get done. And they will affect everyone, both manual workers (blue collar) and office workers (white collar).

What many people also seem to be clear about is that AI is going to be very present in our lives within 20 years. At the beginning of 2040 so there is still about 20 years to develop and extend further to all areas.

And the ones that AI is going to affect the most are repetitive and routine jobs, be they manual or office. Because we have to be aware that in the world of offices there are also many repetitive and routine jobs, such as: passing data from one place to another, a telephone service, carrying out a number of reports, etc etc ….

Therefore, the jobs at risk of being lost and replaced by AI are many and varied. It can easily affect more than 30% of the jobs done today. And the question that arises is: what do these millions of people do when they are replaced by AI?

And this can happen in less than 30 years. I mean, the day after tomorrow.

And I think that the answers of those who are very optimistic that people will do other substitute jobs and of a higher level are not useful. Because it's just a lie.

Not all people have the ability to do other things. Google's AI has already shown that it is capable of making computer programs at the level of an average programmer, and with the passage of time it will improve its level.

It is not about making the staff uneasy, it is about making people think a little about what they do and could do, and especially the authorities so that they look for alternatives now that we still have time to do something.

People must be guided on the evolution of jobs in the future, and advised on future training issues so that they can better face the challenges that are going to be presented to them.

If as a Society we do not react in time, I believe that AI is going to generate a lot of frustration, and that large companies (the richest) are more powerful every day. At the same time, the mass of poor and poorly paid people will increase even though they work.

That is to say, what’s happening today but enlarged and even worse.

Happiness is something subjective that does not depend only on money, but I do not know anyone who is poorly paid, who lives in poverty and who is happy.

Artificial Intelligence technology is not to blame for anything, it depends on who controls that technology and how it is used. Today AI is in the hands of large companies and they use it to increase their profits, and it does not seem that this will change.

That's why I'm not optimistic.
