As is well known, Artificial Intelligence is introduced in all activities and Defense is one of them. I have read about some of the experiences that are being carried out in the USA and China, but I am sure that the rest of the countries do what they can.
The Americans have announced that they have carried out tests with swarms of drones interconnected and controlled by AI to carry out attack and control tasks. They have called the program OFFSET and 250 autonomous vehicles have participated by land and air.
The drones have flown autonomously controlled by the AI and the operators have been able to "see" the exercise through a laptop.
In the case of China, they have carried out AI exercises to control the flight of a fighter plane and attack other planes controlled by human pilots.
At the beginning of the tests, humans destroyed the aircraft piloted by the AI, but after very few exercises, the aircraft controlled by the AI shot down the human pilots almost every time.
And in these tests the best pilots of the Chinese air force have participated.
With these exercises it is seen once again how the AI is capable of "learning" and in a very short time surpass humans when it comes to reacting.
The "problem" is letting a machine make decisions to kill people, but I am clear that this problem will be admitted by the authorities sooner rather than later, unless international agreements are made to preserve the lives of humans against the machines.
I want to remind you that some have rightly warned that AI poses a 95% risk of exterminating humanity.
AI is a great opportunity and a serious threat that must be limited to eliminate future risks.
Technology itself is wonderful and it will give us a lot of joy, but we have to be smart to limit the possible damage.
Not everything can be accepted.
