Wi-Fi connected home appliances are a growing trend in the market. These appliances can be controlled remotely through a mobile application, which offers a number of advantages, such as convenience, but there are also some risks associated with these appliances, such as data security and privacy.

And we receive the “pressure” to do this in many ways. We see it in advertisements and in many types of advertising, and even the company that provides us with telephone service sends us online advertising with “special offers” so that we can use different appliances connected to our Wi-Fi network in our home.

I just received this type of advertisement from my telephone provider. They sent me an offer to place a series of appliances connected to my Wi-Fi network in my house, such as:

  • Refrigerator for 22.7 e./month
  • Dishwasher for 11.7 e./month
  • Fryer for 2.4 e./month
  • Robot vacuum cleaner for 5.8 e./month
  • And some more

They offer it to you as a great improvement for your life, which also helps you save money. And of course, all this with many payment facilities.

But we have to keep in mind, dear friends, that this is a fallacy for fools or for people who think very little. Because any device (also household appliances) the more complex they are, the more likely they are to have malfunctions, apart from the fact that they are more expensive.

And I think there is nothing sillier than complicating something unnecessarily. We must never forget the concept: KISS ( Keep It Simple, Stupid )

The decision of whether or not to buy connected appliances is a very personal one. You have to carefully weigh the advantages and risks before making a decision.

The benefits of connected appliances may be attractive to certain users. The convenience of being able to control appliances from anywhere can be useful, especially for people with limited mobility or who work outside the home.

But appliance manufacturers also have a lot to gain from connected appliances. They can collect data about how users use their products to improve them and develop new products. They can also offer additional services to users, such as subscribing to maintenance plans or the ability to control appliances from anywhere in the world. In addition to having our data and being able to generate income with it.

I am very clear that I am going to continue as before.
