One thing that influenced the Covid-19 is the desire to receive food in our house without having to go for it, and thus avoid possible infections. But since then things have evolved a lot and food delivery services are now increasing, and more and more robots are being used to perform their services.

Food delivery can be done by a person or a robot, and when it is done by the machine has a series of particularities that benefit it, as it is much more aseptic and can be much cheaper, since robots do not receive any salary and can work 24 hours a day.

I have welcomed the news of a food delivery service at an airport that is run by robots. The robotics company is called Ottonomy and its robots deliver food at the Cincinnati airport (USA)

The robots are quite simple, and so is their operation. At the Cincinnati airport there is an application to request food or drink, and by doing so we send our position so that the robot can find us and take the order to us.

When the robot arrives next to us, we have to show a QR code and the doors are unlocked for us to pick up our order.

Robots have different sensors (cameras, Lidar, etc ...) to know where they are and be able to avoid colliding with people and reach their destination.

At an airport there are many people on the move, but it is a relatively clean and protected area. For robots to move down in an open-air street, they should be somewhat more robust.

But I am very clear that some applications can be passed to others, and we will see more and more robots distributing food (and other products) in different places. It is a only a matter of a short span of time.
