It has been expected for months, and after some delays, the first real flight of an all-electric aircraft has finally taken place. This is the Alice made by the Israeli manufacturer Eviation, and the flight was made in Washington.

The Alice is the first fixed-wing electric aircraft that began to be developed in Israel and has ended up making its first flight in the USA. I guess because of the issue of investors and the possible future market.

It is a plane for short trips (around 300 miles) that can carry 9 passengers and 2 pilots. And the manufacturer also plans to put a cargo version on the market to transport up to 2,600 kg, and they also intend to put planes on the market in 2027.

.

This aircraft has the characteristic that it does not pollute at all as it works with electric batteries, and has the limitation of batteries due to its weight and its load capacity.

It is clear that batteries are going to improve a lot in a short time, and that they will be able to store more energy, and that will allow planes like this one to increase their autonomy, which will make them even more appealing.

Another great advantage of these aircraft is their simplicity (the electric motors are very simple and with few breakdowns), their low noise level, and their low maintenance costs. The manufacturer says its flights will cost a fraction of current planes. But it remains to be seen what fraction it is.

I believe that this plane (and others that appear like it) is a very intelligent bet for the future and that it has a good future ahead of it. They deserve it for how hard they are working.
