As we have commented so many times, robots, and more with the help of Artificial Intelligence, are realizing more applications every day. The case of my reflection today is a robot that harvests tomatoes (only those that are ripe) and also prepares them for packaging, trims the leftover leaves of the plant, etc ...

The "downside" for greenhouse operators is that this robot does the work of several men and works 24/7.

For those who do not know, it is estimated that around 40% of the cost of obtaining tomatoes is due to the salary of the greenhouse workers.

The company that presented it is called MetoMotion and the robot has been called GRoW.

It has 3D cameras and Artificial Intelligence to define when a tomato is ripe and proceed to collect it from the bush. And after capturing it, it deposits it on a tape that collects it and prepares it for packaging.

In the future, the company that manufactures it intends to make robot versions to collect other horticultural products such as peppers, courgettes, etc ... since they are all grown in large quantities in greenhouses.

This robot is not unique, since there are others that perform the same or very similar tasks and we will continually see similar models doing similar jobs.

Hoy en día estas máquinas con la ayuda de la IA ofrecen posibilidades cada vez mayores y más eficientes para cultivar y recoger este tipo de productos.

Today these machines with the help of AI offer ever greater and more efficient possibilities to grow and collect this type of product.
