Since I really like the world of robotics, I read articles about it and from time to time I find a product that I particularly like. As is the case of the underwater robot that the company QYSEA Technology has presented, and which it has called FIFISH-EGO.

It is a seemingly simple robot that seems very versatile to me, and can be used to perform different tasks underwater.

For people, managing underwater is complex and laborious, and therefore expensive. The fact that a company offers a professional-looking robot for just over $6,000, and that can perform different tasks by adding different manipulators, is very interesting.

The FIFISH E-GO underwater robot is a professional-class remotely operated underwater vehicle (ROV) that offers a wide range of capabilities. It is designed to be easy to use and transport, making it ideal for users of all experience levels.

Its features include:

  • Immersion depth of 100 meters: it is limited but serves a multitude of applications.
  • 6 Degrees of Freedom Remote Control: It can be controlled remotely with a 6 degrees of freedom remote control, allowing you to make precise and controlled movements.
  • High resolution camera: It is equipped with a high resolution camera that can capture sharp and clear images and videos of the underwater world.
  • High Power LED Lamps: It is equipped with two high power LED lamps that provide bright illumination for low light conditions underwater.
  • Modular platform: The robot is a modular platform that allows multiple instruments and tools to be attached to improve its underwater missions and operations.

Among its applications are:

  • Underwater investigation and inspection: can be used to inspect underwater infrastructure such as pipelines, bridges and ships
  • Recovery of objects under water
  • Underwater recreational activities: making videos, etc…

A video can be seen at: https://youtu.be/ubmXVWjJr7c

Among its advantages I consider that its price is affordable, the appearance of the product seems robust and professional, and as seen in the video it seems easy to use through a control screen.

Its operating time is 2 hours, which in some cases could be limited, but the batteries are very easy to change, and they are recharged to 90% in just 50 minutes

I liked the idea, it seems simple, practical and versatile to use. Time will tell us if it is successful in the market or not.
