Chips are currently one of the most demanded products worldwide, as they form the main core of many other military and civilian products. They are in our mobile phones, televisions, cars, etc…. practically almost anywhere. And there is no technological advance that does not include them.

And the world has realized that for decades only a few companies were capable of manufacturing and selling them to the entire world. And that these companies have a very complex technology to be able to manufacture them.

And after the pandemic, the weaknesses of the supply chains were seen, and that the whole world depended on a few highly technical factories located in Asian countries.

Today everyone wants to diversify their supplies and have nearby factories capable of making chips for their products. And some countries are reaching agreements with these companies so that they install plants in their country.

This is what Germany has just done with the world's leading chip manufacturing company (TSMC). They have reached an agreement to create a manufacturing plant in Germany, in which TSMC invests 3.5 billion euros and Germany in the order of 5 billion euros.

These technologies are very complex and very expensive, and it will take a few years to get this plant ready to produce chips. But in the future, German companies will depend less on plants installed in Asia, and that is the objective of this agreement.

And the same is done by other countries like the USA, etc…. Everyone wants to ensure the future supply of these components so necessary for the development of current technologies.

These countries have been slow to realize the mistake they made in the past and are trying to correct it. It will take them years to do it, and it will cost them a lot of money.

Any country that dismantles its industrial structure is making a mistake in the long run, and one day will pay dearly for it.

Will anyone learn from what has happened to the chips?
