We know that a heat pump is a device that can provide us with cool air in summer, or hot air in winter, and with higher energy efficiency than any other similar system. And if the electrical energy it uses is obtained in a sustainable way, we will have a system that does not pollute.

Until now, heat pumps have generally been used in refrigeration systems (hot and cold), but more and more they are being used to obtain the necessary hot water in houses.

Until now in the houses we had hot water through natural gas boilers (which pollute the environment), or by electric water heaters that heat the water through a resistance, and this system is much less efficient than the heat pump.

Heating the water in a home supposes a consumption of the order of 20% of the energy consumed, which globally is a huge and growing expense. Both for consumption and for the pollution it entails, since it is almost always done with gas.

In order to seek energy efficiency and avoid pollution, water heating systems for homes (and companies, etc...) that heat the water by means of a heat pump are becoming more popular every day.

Its greater energy efficiency means that in the consumption of a house you can save between 100 and 200 euros per year. With which, in addition to not contaminating, the investment is paid in a few years.

And the more they become popular, the more they drop in price, and I am clear that they will end up prevailing in no time. But to end up prevailing, governments should stop subsidizing gas boilers for hot water, and start supporting heat pumps.

Unfortunately, the Government of the Community of Madrid ( Spain ) still subsidizes the installation of natural gas boilers for heating and hot water. I think they should update and subsidize heat pumps to achieve the same objectives.

Hopefully sooner rather than later some will realize their mistake and change.
