I was surprised to see an article indicating that 42% of North American homes and 23% of European homes (from Western Europe) have smart appliances. I did not think that there were so many, and the question that arises is: are they really necessary?
I realize that it is a totally personal and subjective question, and each of us has a different answer, but I think it is worth reflecting on it a bit.
An intelligent device is understood as one that is connected to the internet and through which we can interact remotely with one of the devices that we have in our house.
It must be recognized that smart devices can represent a certain comfort for the user. But you should always analyze the real and true advantages, and the drawbacks that they may present.
If we read the news, we see that we can have all kinds of devices in our house that can be connected to the Internet. Anything. From a coffee maker, a refrigerator, a loudspeaker, an aquarium, etc…. whatever that might come to mind.

But the fact that something is possible does not mean that it is convenient, because when we connect something to the Internet we have the risk that someone enters our device, and once inside they access our confidential and reserved information.
Hackers enter premises using the easiest doors to break into, and in the case of a home it's your smart devices.
Companies try to sell us new products by adding new possibilities to existing ones, and thus their marketing strategies encourage us to buy them. Another thing is that we really need them.
Before buying a new smart device for your home, think about whether you "really" need it, or if you are being influenced by company advertising.
If you understand that the need is real, you must make sure that said device has a key with a certain complexity so that it is not easily hacked and someone unwanted gets hold of your data.
And the second step is to make sure that the manufacturer of the device will continue to update the software and support possible future vulnerabilities. And if he doesn't, find another manufacturer that does.
Everyone does what they think best at home, but I am clear that mine will continue to be quite silly for a long time.
