Since the UN panel of experts has declared that all types of means are needed to reduce the carbon we have in the atmosphere, including the elimination of CO2 by any more or less sustainable means, new companies appearing and being launched into this new market niche.

Not long ago I read about a company called  Noya  that emerged from MIT, and that also offers direct capture of carbon from the air and its storage, and that is also already obtaining financing from various companies that want to obtain credits for the carbon removed.

Noya says it has developed a patented technology that captures CO2 from the air in an efficient and scalable way. According to the company, unlike other solutions, the process does not require large areas of land or significant energy consumption.

This company, which was created by MIT alumni and based in Boston (USA), focuses on the direct elimination of CO2, a crucial approach to combating climate change. Unlike reforestation, which captures CO2 in the long term, Noya's technology offers an immediate solution to reduce emissions already present in the atmosphere.

In theory, removing CO2 from the atmosphere has an immediate and positive environmental impact. It reduces the greenhouse effect, mitigates global warming and helps protect ecosystems and biodiversity.

This is the company's web address:  https://www.noya.co/

Noya offers 6 X 4.5 X 1 inch extractor modules, which are modular and through which the air is circulated. Inside them there is activated carbon and other chemicals that retain CO2, and when the material is saturated with carbon, a current is passed through it and a vacuum valve collects the pure carbon, which is then buried.

As the system is modular, placing more modules increases CO2 elimination. And the size of the modules allows them to be placed almost anywhere.

Since they already want to begin removing CO2 from the atmosphere in 2024, it not only aspires to eliminate CO2 but also seeks to create a sustainable ecosystem around its technology. The company plans:

  • Scale their technology: Increase CO2 capture capacity to have a significant global impact.
  • Develop new products and services: Offering personalized solutions for different industrial sectors.

From what I see on their website, they are being very aggressive in their commercial aspect and are already selling carbon removal credits to companies that need them. And it seems that they have already sold all the carbon credits that they hope to extract in the next 5 years. For everyone's sake, I hope and wish that they comply.

If we think about it a little, the CO2 we send into the atmosphere is a waste product of our industrial processes, and could be treated as waste management. But we must not forget that the most important thing is not to generate waste. The less we pollute, the less we will have to clean our atmosphere.

I wish the best to the people of Noya.
