Most of us mere mortals are not capable of imagining how Facebook is capable of obtaining data from the whole world, and not only on those who use its APPs. It also obtains data when people enter other websites, whatever their type, including hospital websites where patients enter to request an appointment.

I have seen the information in The Markup  which is a website dedicated to reporting what happens inside the world of the Internet. And what they say is to worry, and to worry a lot.

The people of Facebook offer computer programs called Meta Pixel that are incorporated into the web's, in any type of web. And then, that website starts sending data to Facebook about the people who use that website. Even if they are not users of Facebook, or Instagram, or any APP.

If we take into account that Facebook has more than three billion monthly users of its networks, if we add to them those who use other websites that have Meta Pixel installed, we can get an idea of the enormity of the data that Facebook obtains from all the world.

According to The Markup, they have found the Meta Pixel on some hospital websites in the US, which means that a lot of their client data has ended up in the hands of Facebook. And without the customers knowing.

If we take into account that the data from hospital websites is one of the most intimate and reserved, I don't even want to think about what will happen to the data from other types of less sensitive websites.

According to Facebook statements, Meta Pixels have been installed on more than two million websites. And I suppose it will continue to increase.

I do not know what the Facebook model will be like to offer Meta Pixel to websites. If they offer it to them for free or give them some money for the data you get from them. Let's not be naive, here nobody works for free; and if those websites provide data to Facebook (now Meta), I suppose they will receive something in return

As the friends of The Markup say very well: Big Tech is Watching You  , and we are not capable of imagining to what extent.

Dear friends, we are helpless before the voracious data collector of companies, and especially the largest ones. And what surprises me is that when they publish this type of information, the authorities do nothing to correct it immediately.

My little head cannot understand that such excesses are allowed. As a Society we are totally unprotected against the voracity of the largest. A real disgrace.
