Today there are a number of words that were once important and now seem to be losing their meaning: I am referring to words like: Truth, Ethics, Justice, Equality, Freedom, etc... words that once had a deep meaning, and now seem to be devalued. And what is worse, it seems that almost no one is interested in them.
Today we live immersed in the "nonsense" of Social Networks, and in seeing news that entertains us, although a large majority of these "news" are half-truths or simple lies.
It has been proven that in the RRSS hoaxes are transmitted 10 times faster than truthful information. And most of what is discussed in it is to entertain people, while misinforming them. Because the algorithms of the RRSS promote that users remain hooked on the APP, regardless of everything else. Because the APP makes money with that.
Social media has become a means of spreading hoaxes and fake news. And the worst thing is that it has been shown that most of this disinformation comes from a few actors. Very few in fact.
A report revealed that between January and October 2020, more than 70% of low-quality Twitter posts came from just 1,000 accounts, and 34% of the content was created by just 10 users, using bot accounts and other tools. And that can be extrapolated to the current moment with very few changes.
During election times in all democratic countries, these disinformation actions increase. The truth disappears and the interested hoaxes of pressure groups predominate, most of them right-wing tendencies like Trump and others like him.

Today, lies are told with the most absolute shamelessness, and many people (too many) accept this type of biased information as valid without any critical spirit. Now they call it “post-truth,” when it should be called “lies.”
So the question is: what can we do in the face of this avalanche of misinformation?
. Recover the critical spirit: We must question the information we consume, especially on social media. Not everything that is shared is true.
. Verify the information: It is essential to contrast the information with various reliable sources before sharing it.
. Develop digital literacy: It is necessary to educate ourselves in the responsible use of social media, recognizing algorithmic biases and information manipulation.
. Promote quality journalism: Support independent media committed to truthfulness and journalistic ethics.
And most importantly, never give up.
The battle for truth is a complex challenge that requires a collective and continued effort. We must recover the value of truth, honesty and critical thinking as fundamental pillars of our society. The alternative is a dystopian future where manipulation and lies reign, endangering our democracy and our coexistence.
I insist and repeat, dear friend: never give up on seeking the Truth.
