A new business niche is being formed, which is to give a new life to old cars by turning them into electric cars. It is about removing the mechanical parts related to the combustion engine, and replacing them with new ones related to new electric motors.
That way an old car can end up being electric. It's not an easy conversion that just anyone can tackle, but it is a practical business for those who have good mechanical experience with cars.
The current problem is that there are very few offers on the market to do this type of conversion for a car. The technician who does it has to find the best way deciding on the motors, their controllers (with the corresponding software) and the batteries to use. It is not an easy task, but the first news of something that I think may become important is already appearing.

Today, automotive companies, in addition to their cars, offer the market all kinds of spare parts for their cars, and that is why they can be repaired in auxiliary car workshops. But this is not the case with electric cars. There are still very few and spare parts are hardly found.
I have seen with satisfaction that Ford in the USA has begun to offer the market an electric motor that is a substitute for some combustion engines. They have called it “Eluminator”, and they sell it for 4,000 dollars. It is a good first step that hopefully other manufacturers will follow soon. You can see a photo below.

There are already workshops in the USA that are using this engine to modernize trucks from 40 years ago, and convert them into electric ones.
In a few years, this may be a not insignificant market, but for that car conversion kits are required, and car repair shops have to learn these new electrical technologies.
The new electric cars have a lot of software to control the motors and display the information on the control screens. It is not something easy or immediate, and requires learning new things.
But this is what happens in the market. Everything changes, and we all have to adapt to the new realities.
