We only have to look at the cars that circulate through our streets, to see the enormous number of cars that are of the SUV type. People like them because they give them a sense of security, and if they have a smaller car, they feel insecure in front of one that is bigger.

And so in the last 20 years we have changed the type of car. Something that started in the USA and has spread throughout the world. These SUV cars are bigger, heavier and consume more fuel. Many of those cars are prepared to be able to go through a field, even though they usually never do. They always do it on the road, consuming more fuel than a "normal" car and something smaller.

And with electric cars, the same thing is unfortunately happening. Many SUV-type models appear that, due to their size and weight, need larger batteries to move with which more materials are needed that are critical and are beginning to be scarce.

And to continue this nonsense, Mr. Biden came up with the brilliant idea of getting behind the wheel of a Hummer (like the one in the photo below), and saying that he really likes it. Wrong message beyond all power (in my opinion), which has produced an increase in sales of this type of car in the USA.

As I have commented so many times, the problem of the climate emergency that we are facing must lead us to rethink our way of living and consuming, seeking efficiency and sustainability. And these big cars are anything but efficient and sustainable.

With more efficient and somewhat smaller electric cars, they would need less materials to manufacture them, and we would move exactly the same consuming much less (both materials and electricity).

We are still in time to change this trend, but it is not clear to me that it will be done, and the reason is very simple. SUV cars provide a greater profit to manufacturers, and fuel sellers.

Who loses out? Ordinary people

But who cares? They are only ordinary people,
