In 2020, Spain had the lowest number of deaths produced from car accidents in all their history. And apart from the pandemic, this is because cars have more security systems that help us drive better and safer.
Although all large companies invest in the development of an autonomous car that is still far from being achieved, devices that help to drive safer are being introduced into cars.
It has been many years since car lights turn on by themselves when entering a tunnel (and turn off when leaving it), but in recent years many cars stay on the road within their lane and brake by themselves as the distance with the preceding car decreases, they have parking aids and they do it alone, some are able to distinguish some traffic signs, others warn us when they detect fatigue in the driver, etc ...

Cars are being equipped with cameras (in front, behind and inside the cabin), radars, and all kinds of sensor devices to capture information about what is happening around them.
And all this information is managed by a computer (which is more powerful every day) that presents the driver with the guidelines to follow and sometimes acts directly on the car's engine or brakes.
The consequence is that cars are every day safer and generate fewer chances of accidents, and this is a trend that will continue in the coming years.
And as time goes by, these technological innovations will lower their prices and will be applied to the cheapest cars on the market, with which we will all benefit.
