Everyone is aware that the CO2 levels in the atmosphere are the main causes of the climate change that we are suffering, but as our way of life is based on fossil fuels, it is very difficult to change it in a short time.
There are many people researching how to solve this problem and many works and tests are carried out to try to solve it. Until now, no truly efficient and economical system has been found, since the capture and conversion of the CO2 that we generate in the industry is still very expensive, but from time to time are published hopeful news for the future.
And this is the case that I comment today. It has been published by the Department of Energy's of Pacific Northwest National Laboratory, which has carried out a CO2 capture process, which converts CO2 into methanol, which is a product widely used in chemical processes and many other products such as plastics, paints, fuel, solvents, etc... can be obtained from it.

In the photo above you can see the prototype that they have presented from the experiments they have carried out.
Simply explained, the process can be included in a very polluting plant that generates a lot of CO2 (cement plants, steel plants, coal-burning power plants, etc.), and with this internal plant the CO2 can be extracted without sending it into the atmosphere, to obtain methanol and other products at the end of the recycling process.

I am clear that what they have done is a prototype to demonstrate the feasibility of the idea and the process. Now they just need to receive the necessary help to bring this project to real life as soon as possible. It will be a few years before this happens, but the sooner they do it will be the better for everyone.
