And as time goes by, we will see more and more autonomous car companies (actually they are autonomous taxis) in our cities, starting with the largest.
The city is the ideal space for an autonomous car, as it drives in a limited space and not too large, the information available on the streets is very good and easy to update, and a driverless service can offer competitive prices to users.
There are many cities in the world that are already testing these services, and in San Francisco two of the main companies that dominate this technology offer their services: Waymo and Cruise. And there are several other companies conducting tests.

San Francisco is a city with the added problem of having many foggy days, and autonomous systems have had to be adapted to this circumstance.
Just for comparison, the US Society of Automotive Engineers estimates that Waymo's system reaches autonomous driving level 4 (the car works alone and without human supervision, but in limited geographical conditions), while Tesla's It is at level 2 (the driver must attend to the steering wheel). But these things can change fairly quickly.
In the following videos you can see two examples of autonomous driving from each of the companies:

It is very clear to me that this technology is here to stay and will spread to all cities more or less quickly, and the necessary investments have a very important component, since cars are expensive but their prices will go down over time.
By saving the cost of the driver, the prices offered to customers can be competitive and taxi drivers have a very difficult future with this new competition.
