Boston Dynamics is one of the pioneering companies in advanced robotics, and has surprised with the presentation of its new humanoid robot: Atlas . This new version, which is completely electric, represents a significant leap in the capabilities and potential of humanoid robots.
They have worked for almost 10 years with a hydraulic version of the Atlas humanoid robot, gaining market interest for the things it was capable of doing (moving large loads, performing pirouettes in the air, etc...), and now it surprises with a version of the totally electric robot that they are finally going to put on sale.
Unlike its hydraulic predecessor, the new Atlas is powered by electric motors, making it lighter, quieter and more efficient. This change in technology allows you to perform more fluid and dynamic movements, resembling even more human movements.
Atlas is equipped with state-of-the-art sensors and control algorithms that give it unprecedented agility and dexterity. It can perform tasks such as walking on uneven terrain, jumping over obstacles, etc….

For years I have been following the evolution of this company, because I find its robots very interesting, and for example the 4-legged SPOT robot has been imitated by other companies, and there are more than 1,500 installations of them around the world.
This new Atlas robot will be initially tested in a Hyundai plant to experience its capabilities in the world of automobile manufacturing.
And taking into account Boston Dynamics' previous experience in applying AI to its robots with “maching learning” and deep learning tools, this new robot can benefit from all of this, and be able to adapt more quickly to new applications, and adapt its behavior to those new situations that arise.
Like almost all technologies, robotics is advancing in leaps and bounds and offering solutions to almost all problems. I have no doubt that it is a field with a huge future ahead of it.
