Mobile phones have become a device that is at the center of our lives, and researchers are trying to apply as many of their developments as possible to these devices, because they know that in this way they could be used in hundreds of millions of devices.

And that is why researchers from Texas and Seoul have been working for more than 15 years to get a tiny device that can be applied to mobile devices and allow the viewing of objects that are behind a wall or hidden in a bag, or similar.

The device works at frequencies between 200 and 400 GHz, frequencies that are not visible and are not harmful to humans. With a device of this type, the issue of people's privacy becomes a very sensitive issue, and in its first prototype the device must be placed very close to the object to be analyzed, one inch away. And for the following prototypes they hope to get results at a distance of about 5 inches.

If the chip works as the researchers say, there is no doubt that it could have various medical applications, but it does not seem to make sense to apply it to mobile phones in general, for reasons of privacy and intimacy of people.

But it could be used in a multitude of specific mobile devices that carry out tasks of detecting very different objects, and you could do it in a simple way and almost certainly not very expensive.

I think it is a very good idea, and the effort (more than 15 years of work) of the researchers to achieve something that can be very useful for society is very praiseworthy.

I congratulate them wholeheartedly and I hope that their product is on the market as soon as possible.
