Almost 3 years ago, the New York police department presented a Boston Dynamics robot to help police work, but it faced considerable resistance from organizations that defended the privacy and security of citizens, and said robot was cancelled.
Now the idea has resurfaced, they have called it Digidog (it is the old well-known robot that in its day was called Spot, and it is from Boston Dynamics) and the mayor of New York has presented it to the public. Attached photo below.

It is clear to me that there will continue to be people who oppose to these kinds of tools, citing privacy and security reasons, but these causes can be resolved with the necessary transparency, and this type of robot can help improve the safety of police officers.
For those who don't know, in 2021 were killed 62 police officers in the USA by firearms, with an increase of 36% compared to the previous year. Therefore, providing them with measures that increase their security does not seem like a bad idea.
Technologies continue to develop and improve their usability, and the New York police have indicated that Digidog will not use facial recognition techniques, but will be used for surveillance without having to put the lives of its officers at risk.
The world is going that way, for a reasonable use of technologies, and what we have to do is make sure that they are used transparently so as not to diminish our privacy and security rights, but I think it is wrong to resist indiscriminately.
All the development of humanity has been based on changes that have helped us to improve our way of life. With the passage of time we can realize that not all these changes were entirely positive in the long term, and that is what needs to be changed, and as soon as possible.
Dear friends, it is in our nature to change and adapt to changes, and I believe that we will never stop being so.
