However, we only need to look at what has happened in Europe during recent summers to see that extreme temperatures are already part of our reality, affecting health, agriculture, water supply, transportation, and economic productivity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The worrying thing is that we continue to act as if the future were far away. Short-term economic interests often take precedence over the decisions necessary to protect the environment. Many companies seek to maximize immediate profits. Governments, constrained by electoral cycles, rarely promote unpopular measures whose benefits will only be seen in twenty or thirty years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Meanwhile, advertising constantly encourages us to consume more, prematurely replace what still works, and maintain a model that demands ever more natural resources. I don't intend to point fingers. We are all part of the problem, and we must all be part of the solution.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Sometimes I even wonder if I'm exaggerating my concern. After all, at my age, I probably won't live to suffer the worst consequences of these changes. But then I think of my grandchildren, and they will live in the world we are destroying today.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
And then it's hard not to feel a certain frustration when we realize how short-sighted we can be as a society. Not because we lack intelligence, but because we too often prioritize immediate gain over future well-being.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The good news is that we still have time to act, and something is being done. Every decision counts: consuming more responsibly, protecting ecosystems, investing in clean energy, reducing waste, and demanding policies that look beyond the next legislative term.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Because caring for the climate isn't just about protecting nature. It's primarily about protecting our own quality of life and that of future generations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
After all, we don't depend on the economy to breathe. We depend on the planet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
