Today those recharging times are long and can exceed an hour, depending on the charger used.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Everyone is working on solving both problems by searching for new battery compositions, but until that happens, millions of electric cars will have been sold and will already be on the roads.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Recharging the batteries with a high-power super-charger may affect the battery cells and shorten their lifespan. It is a complex and delicate thing to do.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I've read that researchers at the\u00a0 <strong>Idaho National Laboratory<\/strong>\u00a0 have developed a new charging algorithm that can recharge a battery to 90% of its charge capacity in about 10 minutes, and that software can be applied to cars that are already on the road.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"500\" height=\"267\" src=\"https:\/\/desdelaterrazadeamador.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/Coche-electrico-cargando-2.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1358\" srcset=\"https:\/\/desdelaterrazadeamador.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/Coche-electrico-cargando-2.jpg 500w, https:\/\/desdelaterrazadeamador.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/Coche-electrico-cargando-2-300x160.jpg 300w, https:\/\/desdelaterrazadeamador.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/Coche-electrico-cargando-2-18x10.jpg 18w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">There are models of \"high-end\" electric cars that can be recharged with super-chargers up to 80% of their charging capacity in a few minutes, but most cars are not like that.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The new charging algorithm based on Artificial Intelligence is capable of adjusting the current and voltage applied to the battery during the charging process, to charge it as quickly as possible while maintaining long-term battery health.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The developed protocol uses \"machine learning\" to simulate how the battery evolves when it receives fast charges, with an algorithm that analyzes more than 20,000 battery data.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">They have already managed to charge batteries up to 90% of their charge in 10 minutes, and the best thing is that the software can be applied to current batteries and chargers, such as a battery management system software update.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And this is very interesting, because these improvements in recharging times can make electric car manufacturers decide to place smaller batteries in their vehicles, thus lowering their cost more quickly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The battery is the most expensive component of an electric car, and as they evolve, so will cars.
