<\/figure>\n\n\n\nThe method is apparently simple. First, air with a certain level of CO2 is passed through the electrodes, and due to the voltage applied to them, they absorb the CO2, and the air comes out clean at the other end.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
And when the electrodes are already saturated with CO2, the air intake is cut off, the voltage is changed and the CO2 that was stored in the electrodes is extracted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Although this process is still in fairly early stages, the CO2 absorbent material can go through a few thousand cycles before beginning to lose its properties. And researchers are still researching to improve it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Something also important is that this process is capable of removing CO2 from the air with different concentration levels, whether it is low (0.04%) or much higher (20%), and the latter is the case of industrial processes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The company that owns the patents for this process is called Verdox, and has received the XPRIZE Carbon Removal milestone award<\/strong> , and has also received a strong financial injection from various technology investors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The challenge that humanity has to get below 450 parts per million of CO2 in the atmosphere by the year 2100, means that efforts are redoubled in this type of development, although we must not forget that the cheapest thing is to leave to emit CO2 into the atmosphere.<\/p>\n\n\n\n I have also read that this company Verdox has obtained a contract with the Norwegian company Hydro dedicated to the manufacture of aluminum, to include this process in the manufacture of aluminum and thus achieve environmentally sustainable aluminum.<\/p>\n\n\n\n I hope that Verdox greatly improves its processes, and that it wins new contracts to help achieve a sustainable environment.
